St. Catherine’s edges Collegiate in PKs to win LIS soccer title

After a scoreless regulation period and a scoreless pair of overtimes, St. Catherine’s and Collegiate’s soccer teams headed to penalty kicks.

They still needed an extra one of those to decide it.

That’s where St. Catherine’s keeper Mary Clarke Wallace made a decisive save in the first extra kick beyond the first five, giving St. Catherine’s the LIS title. The Saints how now won six of the last seven LIS championships, with Collegiate’s 2017 win the lone interruption.

Wallace finished with eight saves in the shutout for St. Catherine’s. Maisy Fling made six saves for Collegiate in net.
