St. Catherine’s wins first LIS lacrosse title in 22 Years

It has been more than two decades since St. Catherine’s lacrosse won an LIS title, but that drought ended Friday when the Saints held off Collegiate for an 11-10 victory and the conference championship.

With 2:20 to play, St. Catherine’s seemed comfortably in control, but Collegiate closed the game with four-straight goals, but the Saints’ lead held up.

Madison Jiranek led the way for the Saints with four goals while Abby Jenkins and Foster Worrell each scored twice, with Worrell also dishing out two assists. Sarah Cobb, Emerson Foster and Claire Horner all scored goals with Sarah Johnson notching an assist.

Ellie Horner made nine saves in the cage for St. Catherine’s.

Harper Zaun led Collegiate with a hat trick and Maggie Bostain scored twice and dished out an assist.
